Dayton, Ohio – May 23, 2023 – Enterprising teenage friends from rival high schools have established themselves as up-and-coming young Dayton entrepreneurs, partnering to launch their own sign and vehicle wrap business this spring.

While many high school students will spend the summer working service industry jobs, Ryder Siedling and Ryan Colon will be hard at work learning what it takes start, operate and grow a successful business.

Siedling and Colon, who are just finishing their junior years at Alter High School and Kettering Fairmont High School, respectively, operate NextDoorSigns.com, with assistance from their fathers, William Siedling and Dr. Roberto Colon. Located at 2311 Dryden Road in Moraine, the newly opened business offers full vehicle wraps, fleet lettering for vehicles and trailers, signs and banners.

“We really wanted to do something meaningful, something that could ultimately help us prepare for life beyond high school,” Siedling and Colon said. “We approached our fathers with this idea, and they were both so supportive.”

The sign and vehicle wrap business is not new to Siedling – you could say it’s in his blood. Ryder’s family has been in the sign business for 107 years, starting with William’s Grandfather, Russ Dickman. William joined the family business in 1983 and was at the forefront of the newly emerging vehicle wrap business in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus areas beginning in 2005.

“I guess you could say it was a natural fit and inevitable when Ryder and Ryan approached me about starting their own sign and vehicle wrapping business,” William Siedling said. “It’s been a big part of my family’s life for so many years, and I’m proud of Ryder for taking on the challenge and responsibility of starting a business. It’s so great to see younger generations taking on this kind of entrepreneurial spirit.”

“William and I are both excited to help our sons get started with this new venture,” Dr. Colon said. “I know both of them have the drive and determination to make it a success.”

Initially, the primary focus of NextDoorSigns.com will be business and commercial work.

“We want to establish the company as a friendly, dependable local business you can trust – the tradition of the family business ‘next door’ that is like a neighbor to you,” Ryder said.

“We’re proud of our community and proud to serve other longtime local businesses in the Miami Valley,” Ryan added.

Some of their initial projects have included vehicle wraps for Dayton favorite Esther Price Candies and Hamilton Rental Center, as well as a trailer wrap for Denzio’s Homemade Italian Food. They hope to also work with the healthcare and non-profit sectors in the future and are making plans to also expand into printing for apparel and t-shirt decoration.

NextDoorSigns.com provides a comprehensive catalog of signs, vehicle services and graphics, as well as custom design options. They are well-equipped to deliver outstanding products and services to their customers, utilizing HP 335 latex printers for wraps, large signs and wall coverings, and vinyl cutters for fleet graphics. Their wrapping services offer a wide range of design options for many types of vehicles, including custom designs, and are affordable, low maintenance and easy to remove. Fleet lettering and vehicle or trailer graphics offer cost-effective alternatives for tight budgets. Sign and banner services include magnetic signs, lettering and vinyl banners. Siedling and Colon are happy to discuss options in more detail with customers and provide free estimates.

“Our convenient location, affordable prices, and custom order capabilities make us the best choice in the area for fleet lettering, signs, banners, and vehicle wrap services,” Siedling said.

The friends intend to share the knowledge and experience they gain, bringing graphic design interns from the Modern College of Design into the business. They also plan to give back to the community, donating a portion of proceeds from the business to Dayton Children's and the Ronald McDonald House.

“We are so excited about the opportunity to spread the word and grow NextDoorSigns.com this summer,” Colon said. “This is definitely something we see as a long-term endeavor and potential career.”
